City of Namur

Located at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers, Namur is the Capital of Wallonia, at the crossroads of Brussels, Charleroi, and Liège. A city with a rich, millennial heritage, symbolized by the majestic Citadel, it bears witness to a strategic and tumultuous history. Today, it is a Creative City blending history, tradition and modernity.

Since 2012, Namur has established itself as a Smart City, thanks to projects such as the Namur Innovative City Lab and the Namur Green City Lab, which integrate technological innovation and ecological transition. This dynamic positions the city among the most innovative in Belgium, while highlighting both its heritage and cultural initiatives.

The City of Namur benefits from a rich and diverse ecosystem. In addition to iconic infrastructures like TRAKK, the Pavillon, and the NID, institutions such as the University of Namur, Haute École Albert Jacquard (HEAJ), the Royal Institute of Musicology and Pedagogy (IMEP), the Delta, the Théâtre de Namur, the Cultural Centre of Namur (CCN), and the Namur Concert Hall – Grand Manège enhance its cultural and digital offerings. Festivals like the KIKK Festival, the International Francophone Film Festival (FIFF), Namur in May, and Namur in Light boost the city’s attractiveness, making it a hub of innovation, culture, and creativity.
